The opiners begin, This neighborhood isnt what it was in the old days. The story continues about people nearby that were friends who came througgh when you needed something or were sick. Who watched your house, just like their own, and shared a cup of coffee.
Did you know, there are people that still do this today, right here in Buckner Terrace? The world is changing every day, but we have a choice to keep our block as it was in the Old Days. Youre right people are busy. But, people have always been busy. It takes just a few minutes to talkwith the wonderful people living near you. So, as you are spending time in the yard, take aminute. When you see someone, speak. Introduce yourself. Share a good phone number and agree to keep an eye out.
When you see something or someone that doesnt look right, call 9-1-1. One lady did that and DPD nabbed a group breaking into houses. If you see a car that continues to circle, get the license plate, make and model (or snap a pic with your phone). And, call 9-1-1.
We are the difference in this neighborhood. Stopand talk with your neighbor. If you get up in the night, look out your window. You will be able to see with what is going on with your porch and alley lights ON.
Your eyes, ears, and a few minutes of your time can help fight crime and continue the tradition of a great community. Just like The Good Old Days of great neighbors!
