Buckner Terrace Homeowners Association Newsletter for August, 2011

From The Chair -
Darlene Reynolds, Chair, BTHA

What an energizing National Night Out!  Thanks so much to all who came and to those that participated.  It was great to see so many friends and to make new friends!  there were smiling faces everywhere - even on those that picked up trash!  If you took pictures, you are welcome to share them on our Facebook page.

We also have two events that are moving forward.  Both are on Wednesday, October 26th.  It will be a big day in Buckner Terrace?

The Quiet Zone at Jim Miller and Forney has been in progress for years.  It takes time to get through all the Federal government regulations and thank you for your letters to our City Council people.  The Quiet Zone will be on the agenda for the Dallas City Council on Wednesday, October 26th.  If you are able, we would appreciate you attending the City Council meeting to show our community supports it.  More information will be available at the monthly meeting.

Dallas Children's Advocacy Center will have their Groundbreaking on Wednesday, October 26th at 10 am, with remarks at 10:30 am.  Location is 5351 Samuell Boulevard.  This is a construction site, so please keep in mind the ground may be uneven.  We are invited to attend and I would to ask you if you could, please come and show our community support.

It is amazing that in a time when the economy is kind of tough, a major development is coming to our neighborhood.

What a great neighborhood we live in!  Thanks for being here.  YOU are what makes our neighborhood outstanding!

Buckner Terrace Next Meeting:  Tuesday, October 25th at 6:30 pm.  Edna Rowe Elementary School, 4918 Hovenkamp
National Night Out was HUGE!!  Thanks!

Over 1,000 people celebrated National Night Out with Buckner Terrace Homeowners and District 4 at Edna Rowe Elementary School on Tuesday night, October 4th.

There were so many highlights - the staff at Edna Rowe made everyone feel so welcome, the Skyline Band performed - and what an amazing Band they are!  The must from 94.5 Radio One - Dallas.

Hope you were able to come and talk with the many vendors that were there, many neighbors, city departments and those that contribute to our neighborhood.

We had lots of hot dogs, chips, ice cream, popcorn and bottled water.  And everything was FREE - thanks to the many sponsors, Mr. Caraway and his staff.

There were 4 bikes given away and 3 of them went to students at Edna Rowe!  So, they are right here in our community.  Lots of you donated cakes for the cake walk.  It was absolutely great to see so many kids and parents having a great time.  The noise level was high and there was plenty of energy!

If you are interested in seeing the pictures, there are too many to share here, just send an e-mail to Ron Gavinski at rg@rgphotog.com.  Ron will send you the link to the pictures.  We appreciate Ron's many years of taking pictures for our community.

Thanks to Marian Williams an Darius McDonald (Buckner Terrace NNO Coordinators), Mr. Caraway, Molly Leanos and the VIP members.  Our thanks to the City Council Office of Mr. Caraway:  Gaytha Davis, Stephanie Cooper, Esmeralda Martinez.  So many of you so graciously contributed your time and energy!  Thank you!
