Dallas Children's Advocacy Center
Erin Banister, DCAC
The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center (DCAC) coordinates the investigation and prosecution of the worst cases of child abuse in our community. DCAC's clients are children who have been sexually abused, severely physically abused or children who have witnessed a violent crime.
DCAC houses a special unit of the Dallas Police Department, a Special Investigative Unit of CPS and also has an embedded Assistant District Attorney. Having all of these professionals under on roof drives collaboration and communication in teh very sensitive cases that DCAC coordinates. DCAC also works with the other 25 police agencies who serve Dallas County and a partnership with children's Medical Center.
DCAC is known throughout the country as a leader in educating professionals about crimes against children. Each year DCAC hosts the world's largest professional education conference for federal, state and local law enforcement professionals, prosecutors, therapists and others who work in this field. Many national partners support DCAC's efforts, like the FBI, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and corporate supporters like Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook and Harpo.
DCAC helps children and families for as long as they need it, regardless of the family's ability to pay. There is no other agency in Dallas Count like DCAC. There is a known gap in the number of children DCAC serves and the number of confirmed cases of child abuse in Dallas County - (6,000 confirmed - 2,500 served).
DCAC cannot fulfill its mission while there is a gap in the number of the abused children versus the number of children served.
We are so excited to announce that we're breaking ground at the site for our new location on Wednesday, October 26th at 10:00 a.m. Our new building will enable us to expand our outreach and provide much-needed services to the most innocent citizens of Dallas County. We're equally excited about being your new neighbor. Please feel free to contact us - before or after our new facility opens - to learn more about DCAC.
