Dallas ISD schools receive 2011 Texas Honors Circle Award

Nine Dallas ISD schools have been recognized for achieving significant academic growth among students while maintaining cost-effective operations. Texas Comptroller Susan Combs recently announced the schools were among 313 Texas school campusses and 46 districts receiving the Texas Honors Circle Award for high rankings in the 2011 Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST).
Mandated by the 2009 Texas Legislature, fAST in an annual study that examines both academic performance and financial efficiency to identify school districts, charter operators and campuses that deliver high-quality education at relatively low costs. Combs created the Texas Honor Circle Award to recognize districts and schools that receive high marks in the FAST analysis.
All Texas public and charter schools and school districts are rated by FAST. The ratings are determined by averaging the composite academic progress percentile with the spending index.
Nine Dallas schools were recognized. We are so pleased that Edna Rowe Elementary School was on the list of recognized schools. Congratulations to Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones - and the teachers, staff and students at Edna Rowe. We are so proud of you!
